We all know not to use nail polish too often or your nails will start to dry out and turn yellow.
But have you ever wondered what happens to your body 10 hours after applying nail polish?
Toluene:
It is a solvent that gives nails their smooth texture and preserves the pigment, but it can affect the central nervous system and cause reproductive harm. Headache, weakness, fainting, and nausea are just some of the possible consequences of using poor-quality nail polish.
Formaldehyde:
This colorless gas helps extend the shelf life of nail polish, so if you’re allergic, contact with it can cause dermatitis and potential chemical burns, as well as heart rhythm disturbances, seizures, and cancer.
Dibutyl Phthalate:
This component is used as a perfume, and the presence of this dangerous component leads to endocrine, gynecological, and respiratory disorders.
Scientists conducted a study on a group of 24 women, 6 hours after painting their nails, most of the participants showed high levels of diphenyl phosphate, a derivative of triphenyl phosphate formed during metabolism, and 10 hours after the start of the experiment, levels showed high levels of diphenyl phosphate. Diphenyl phosphate increased in the bodies of all participants to 7 times above normal, and these results are alarming.
How to choose a nail polish that does not harm health?
Some nail polish packages and bottles have special labels:
5—The blank indicates that the product does not contain formaldehyde or its derived resins (formaldehyde resins), toluene, dibutyl phthalate, or camphor.
While the word (3-Free) indicates that the paint is free of only three harmful ingredients: formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, and toluene.
Before buying nail polish, it is necessary to be very careful and read the ingredients.
